When you are a web designer, dealing with difficult clients is just part of the job. Most people who hire professional web designers know very little about how websites are created. Designers typically find that about half of their clients have very strong opinions about what they don’t want but offer very little guidance about what they do want.
Clients use colorful words to describe their vision but have a hard time thinking of concrete ideas that web designers can use to come up with accurate mock-ups. As a result, clients often get frustrated because the first few mock-ups don’t live up to their expectations. In fact, about 20 percent of all clients end up requesting significant revisions.
To avoid potential problems in the future, you should always finalize your agreement with all clients prior to working on new projects. Set up rules to protect your business and have a standard contract that you can easily revise for every unique project.
